Barrels

PTR is proud to share barrel OEM relationships with Green Mountain and Thompson Center. These barrels are provided to PTR in blank form and are then profiled and chambered in house. PTR’s barrels vary in length, 8.5”, 16”, 18”, and 20”. PTR offers military “stepped” style and match grade style barrels, and some types of barrels are fluted for aesthetics and heat dissipation. PTR “C” models offer barrels with a welded compensator for consideration of your specific state laws.

Sights

PTR uses the world famous H&K style hooded front sight, and adjustable rear sight drum.

Rear Sight
  • The rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation. The owner’s manual has step by step directions on how to make adjustments
  • Adjustment for elevation requires a sight tool which can be purchased separately
Front Sight
  • Front sight is hooded and set in a triple tree frame
  • The front sight is fixed in place
Magazines

PTR recognizes that keeping shooting costs low is a target for all customers. With that in mind PTR uses original G3 magazines in its 91 series of products. And, in an effort to further our customer’s savings, PTR adapted the 32 series of products to work with most standard AK-47 magazines. In short, all of our products will accept inexpensive magazines that are abundant in today’s market.

PTR-91 Series Products
  • 20, 10, and 5 round G3 magazines are available in Steel or Alloy
PTR-32 Series Products
  • 30, 10, and 5 round AK-47 magazines are available
  • PTR recommends the use of polymer style AK-47 magazines for best results. PTR ships each 32 series product with a Tapco AK-47 magazine
  • When considering the use of steel AK-47 magazines PTR recommends the use of Chinese and Korean surplus magazines
US Parts Count for PTR products

PTR maintains a minimum of 7 U.S. parts in all products. Many of the parts in your PTR are manufactured by PTR, if not all. However the US parts count in PTR’s products can vary. Most H&K and G3 parts are interchangeable with PTR’s design and because of this we recommend consulting our staff prior to switching any parts on your rifle.

Warranty, Returns, and Repairs

Please read the following information carefully as it pertains to the warranty of your rifle, and the procedures for warranty, return, and repair. PTR offers a 1 year warranty on all products.

Warranties and the Return Process
  • PTR’s 1 year manufacturer warranty warrants that each PTR rifle is free of defects in workmanship and material and is limited to the original purchaser. The warranty is not transferable
  • PTR will execute a multi-step trouble shooting process that will assist in determining the validity of a warranty claim prior to issuing a Return Authorization Number
  • PTR will not accept any return without a Return Authorization Number
  • PTR will not turn down a request to trouble shoot and evaluate the condition of a reported issue with a product even if the warranty period has ended or the rifle has been transferred ownership. However repair services may require out of pocket expenses
  • For the full list of requirements necessary to process a warranty claim please contact customer support at 1.860.676.1776 or send an email to Info@PTR91.com and a representative will contact you promptly
Repairs
  • If  repair work is determined to be outside the scope of warranty, or if PTR determines that the warranty issue was caused by carelessness, negligence, misuse, or failure to properly maintain the rifle the customer will be responsible for gunsmith time, ammunition and return shipping
  • PTR does not currently offer an “Out of warranty repair service”. If your PTR is determined to be out of warranty and in need of repair PTR will assist you in finding a certified local gunsmith that can further assist in the required repair work
PTR Parts and Construction
Receiver
  • PTR’s receivers are made on original H&K machinery to German mil-specifications.
  • Material is .059 steel.
  • PTR offers all models with a “Flat Top” receiver which will accept all original German and most aftermarket claw style mounts for optics.
  • PTR offers most models with a welded scope mount option. This gives the shooter an easy optic mounting option, eliminating the need for a claw mount.
  • If a replacement receiver is required, please reference the PTR parts store or contact the folks at HKParts.net.
Hand Guards
  • PTR hand guards are machined from mil spec hard-anodized aluminum
  • Hand guards for the 91 and 32 series RIFLES are drilled and tapped to accept rails at the 3,6, and 9 O’clock positions
  • Hand guards for the PTR-91 G.I. are original G3 plastic furniture and will not accept adaptable rails

Pistol Grip Assembly/Trigger
  • PTR’s pistol grips are polymer and U.S. made
  • All fire control parts are made of metal, not polymer
  • PTR’s standard trigger has a pull of approximately 12 pounds
  • Tuned triggers are available on the Super Sniper model
PTR Products and Full Automatic Capabilities

PTR-91 Inc does not produce its products with any fully automatic capable parts. Specifically, all of our products are built with a semi-auto only bolt carrier and semi-auto only sear.

Although we recognize that legal ownership of a fully automatic or select fire PTR is possible in some states we do not offer or promote any services that would assist in the process of conversion.

If you have any further questions regarding such topics please seek assistance from your local ATF office or state police.

Ammunition

PTR-91 Inc. rifles are all newly manufactured and are made to exacting standards and close tolerances.  The PTR-91 series rifles are made to function with .308 caliber ammunition, but will function with 7.62 NATO and 7.62x51 as well.  The PTR-32 series rifles are made to function with 7.62x39 caliber ammunition.  For liability reasons, PTR-91 Inc. does not recommend the use of reloads or surplus ammunition.  If surplus ammunition is used, beware that this ammunition varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, lot to lot, year to year, components used and processes in manufacturing.  Please keep in mind that most surplus ammo is either tar sealed or lacquered finished.  When firing surplus ammo, you will need to clean the rifle more than if you were shooting newly manufactured commercial ammunition.

For optimal performance and reliability, PTR-91 Inc. recommends that you keep your rifle bore and chamber clean, and well oiled.
